Large-scale Russian Strikes Disrupt Power Across Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure targeted in the region
The country's power facilities have come under escalating attacks in recent weeks

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused electricity outages in large parts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Nine people were injured while inhabitants in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and dealt with disruption to water systems, per reports from city officials.

Simultaneously, a seven-year-old child was fatally injured in a separate Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southeastern part, as reported by area administrators.

Russian forces has increased assaults on energy facilities over the past few days, while the country's government has demanded "concrete actions" from allies to exert influence on Moscow.

"What's needed is not window dressing but strong steps - from the America, European nations and the major economies - in delivering protection systems and enforcing restrictions," mentioned in a social media post.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and several dozen missiles attacked energy facilities, describing such attacks as "strategic and deliberate" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as the weather cools.

The energy minister said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were laboring to fix the damage.

A series of attacks hit energy infrastructure and civilian homes in the capital.

Five out of the nine people injured in the strikes on the city have been hospitalized, as confirmed by municipal representatives.

Regional authorities said the city endured intense attacks overnight. A minor was killed and several individuals were injured.

The assaults succeed evenings of aerial attacks in the region, portions of which are occupied by Moscow's military.

The whole nation is in a state of readiness for advanced weapon attacks, which are tougher to identify.

Authorities told reporters that Russia was intentionally trying to destroy the electrical infrastructure, with assaults already disrupting energy systems.

Authorities confirmed technical personnel and officials were anticipating additional strikes.
